I have recently become addicted to smoothies. Well not really all smoothies but in general the idea of smoothies.
After perusing All Recipies I found a lemon berry smoothie recipie, and I absolutely had to try it. I’ve read through a smoothie book or two while perusing Borders before and one thing I know is that you can substitute 1 cup fresh fruit and 1/2 cup ice for 1 cup frozen fruit. So I modified the original recipe to account for using frozen fruit, which is more accessible and less questionable than fresh this time of year (in my I’ve worked at a farm stand before opinion.) And with my (possible hypochondriac) allergy to strawberries I modify recipes to use raspberries instead.
So my recipe is as follows:
Ingredients
- 1 (8 ounce) container blueberry (or raspberry) nonfat yogurt
- 1 cups skim milk
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- 1 tablespoon powdered lemonade mix
Directions
- Place yogurt, milk, blueberries, raspberries, and lemonade mix in a blender.
- Pulse until smooth and creamy.
- Add more milk (up to an additional 1/2 cup) to reach your desired consistency.
Servings Size
Makes 2 servings
Sometimes I use the 6oz yogurt (if they’re the ones on sale) in which case I just ball park the rest of the recipe, with just shy of a cup of each berry and the milk and maybe only 1/2 a spoonful of lemonade mix.
Mmmm…delicious. I make this in ~2min in the morning before I go to work, throw it in my Nalgene bottle and drink about half on my way into work, and the other half on my way home from work. That bottle is perfect for drinking smoothies while driving, even when it’s think I don’t have to worry about it spilling out since the mouth is so narrow.
I’ve never had so many servings of dairy and fruit in my diet before! I’m actually going to be looking for a powdered vitamin supplement to add to the mix too to really boost my smoothie’s potential.
